Wall Hanging
How Much Does Taxidermy Trophy Head Mounting Cost?

Let's be upfront about something: we're not going to print a flat price list for trophy mounting, for the same reason we don't for TVs — honest pricing depends on your mount, your wall, and your wall's plans.
What we will do is walk you through exactly what goes into the number, so you know what you're paying for — and why this is one job where "the cheapest quote" is the wrong thing to optimize for.
What Determines the Cost of Mounting a Trophy
The size and weight of the mount. A whitetail shoulder mount and an elk shoulder mount are different jobs in every way that matters — weight, hardware, and how many hands the install needs. The bigger the animal, the more the wall has to do.
Your wall type. Drywall with studs behind it is the straightforward case. Stone and brick — very popular on game room and man cave walls around Granbury — take masonry anchors, different tooling, and more time. Plaster in older homes takes its own approach, too.
One mount or a trophy wall. A single deer head is a quick, clean job. Planning and hanging a full trophy wall — multiple mounts, plaques, antler sets, arranged to grow over seasons — is a layout project, and it's worth doing deliberately the first time.
Height and access. Mounts going above fireplaces, on stairwell walls, or high on great-room walls can involve ladders and careful handling that add time.
Hardware needs. Most mounts hang from the hanger the taxidermist built into the back — but some need backing, blocking, or extra-stout anchors depending on weight and stud placement. Hardware rated well beyond the actual weight is standard in our quotes, not an upgrade.
What Our Quote Covers
Labor, the right hardware for your mount and wall, careful handling of the mount itself, placement advice (we'll tell you honestly what looks best before we drill), and a secure, level install. And unlike most things we hang, we'll happily talk through your future plans — if there's a second mount coming, we'll leave the wall ready.
Why "Cheap" Is the Wrong Goal Here
A TV that falls is an expensive lesson. A trophy that falls is irreplaceable — the season, the story, and the mount, all damaged in one second. This is the category where we'd tell you to be more suspicious of a low quote, not less: it usually means someone plans to skip the stud, or hasn't asked about your wall at all.
The Fastest Way to an Honest Number
Send us a photo of the mount (or a description — "whitetail shoulder mount, about 20 pounds" works), a photo of the wall, and where you're thinking it should go. We'll tell you what it needs and what it costs — before you commit to anything.
